Our country club has LVP. The manager said it was a nightmare to keep clean. She used all of the recommended cleaners. She told me the only product that worked was Fabuloso

Has anyone tried it?

Our Cortec is dark walnut that is textured with grooves. This is the worst to keep lean. Dust gets underway the grooves so it never looks clean. Must Dust mop everyday and wet mopmop

Here is mine this morning. Raining buckets, supposed to get 2 - 4 inches, and the dogs

have been in and out all morning.

@Gina S Yes. Exactly. I can't believe I am the only one that is having such a great experience with LVP. I understand it isn't for everyone and if you are after a certain look, it might not be a good choice. But in my situation, where I have multiple dogs and an extremely wet and dirty environment they are exactly what I had hoped for. They are wearing wonderfully and are so low maintenance.

I put my sample on the floor and haven't had any problems. I put different things on the corners and have cleaned it up with water and a micro cloth. No problems.

But, I am concerned. This house is going to be rented to my bachelor son, who is not a slave to cleaning. That said, he also isn't fussy. So, footprints aren't going to bother him.

I don't know how it would be possible to keep any really dark floors clean looking. I have a friend that has dark solid hardwoods and hates them for that reason.

@HU-717396793 that is frustrating. It looks like there is a film on your floor. Could it be what you're using?? Again, maybe it is my screen. If there is a haze ... has it been there since the beginning??

One time I used the wrong cleaning on my mirror (I think it was stainless cleaner) and it took forever to get the film off. I just kept using water and a micro cloth and finally it is back to normal.

I agree @Julie Jenkins they're beautiful and I can see why people choose them but I would never be committed enough to keeping them as clean as they need to be to look amazing.

Agree @Gina S. I guess that is why am so pleased. I did a ton of research and knew what I had to work with : dogs and wet. I chose a matte finish and am just really happy that my expectations have been met completely. If I had gone with a dark or shiny finish I think I would be miserable.

@Julie Jenkins would you mind taking a look at this flooring and let me know if it is something that you would recommend? Or, would you have turned away from it after the research you've done. This is one of my top contenders and most of them are called "medium" on the website or on the sample.

@Gina S I think that color looks pretty good. The variations I think help with hiding things. To me, the material is the most important part. Mine is glue down planks so a bit softer than some of the floating. It is not hard or slick. I think this makes the finish more friendly to upkeep and my dogs walking on it. Our flooring store let me take a good sized sample home that I had the dogs walk on, got wet, and cleaned. I think that is key and personally, I would not have bought if I couldn't kind of test drive it before hand.

I use a ph neutral floor cleaner. One problem is the dust settles into the grooves, so it always has footprints. Will straight water and Microsoft on hands and knees next. I wish someone from Coretec would reach out and help me with this. Maybe they can clean them . I've had the problem from day 1 so it must be a manufacturing issue. So disgusted.

@HU-717396793..I have the same flooring, African Sunset glue down.., it’s horrible. We did nearly our entire house. I want to cry every day, I sent samples into Mannington, they are doing an investigation,. we paid a professional to come in and do the floors without anyone here. Let it dry.....you should see it! Filthy. I want my hard earned money back. I am so disappointed and angry,

We have LVP in our new house and i was almost in tears because our German Shepherd would leave phantom paw prints as well. I ended up speaking with a flooring installer and he suggested using a microfiber mop and Shaw Hardwood Floor Cleaner. I found the cleaner at Menards and it actually WORKED!!!

I use the microfiber Bona mop but haven't tried this cleaner. LVP is SO much work. Swiffer, vaccum, mop repeat. With 3 cats we have lots of prints.

@HU-863676312 I had a CORTEC rep come to my house to look at my floor. I had same issue. They took 2 of my left over planks. 2 months later I was told there is no problem with my flooring. So I'm stuck. We put this crap through out our whole house including our stairway. My floor is even lighter than yours and it still shows. Looks beautiful as long as you keep the curtains and lights off.

Is it more than laminate?

I have washed it multiple times with ph neutral cleaner. I now dust mop every day. Scuff marks are less but still visibly worse when sun shines on it. Ive put Quickshine on it and that seems to help a little. Laminate is much less work. Now have to live with it.

I'm not rich. It took me three years to save up enough to have my tile removed and cortec installed in a 1000 sq ft area of my home. I am disgusted with this stuff and embarrassed to have company over. One session of cleaning includes: sweep, vacuum, swiffer and mop only to have dusty streaks appear a couple hours later. At age 67 I can't keep up with the labor. Recovering from back surgery plus undergoing treatment for cancer makes it impossible. Thanks for nothing Cortec.

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and at a standstill. My contractor hyped the luxury vinyl. He said many of his customers were using it. He only does the kitchen remodels, not the flooring, so he was just telling me what seemed to be popular. I got several samples of the AduraMax African Sunset and left it in the kitchen to get a feel for it against the new cabinets. Although it initially looked nice, walking on the samples left footprints, smudges, etc. I walk from the kitchen directly onto hardwood, yet the AduraMax looked dirty. I had to wipe the footprints off, and it wasn't easy. Not to mention it looks fake, like a 3D image of wood. Perhaps it depends on the color you buy but, after my trial run and reading reviews, I passed on expensive vinyl.

I am having the same problem with my Cortec Pro Plus Enhanced You can't walk on, in shoes or barefoot that you don't see every foot print. I have never seen anything like it. And in the sun OMG it looks like a herd of cattle went through there . Its terrible. I don't know what to do either

Update: I have the Coretec Pro Plus Vinyl in a medium tone with some variance and I am not have a problem at all. I vacuum it and use the bona mop with plain water. Maybe stop using a solution at all and see if it works. It truly looks great. I love it!!

Adding: after getting the water only advice here from someone posting about how to take care of hardwood floors I can tell you that it takes a while to get rid of the film from previous cleanings. I exclusively used Bona which is suppose to be really good. The buildup wasn't visible until I started using water only. I know that sounds odd but the best way to describe it is that some spots came clean (I was able to rid it of buildup) and other spots still had the film. So, because of that it looked worse for a while.

@Gina S - we will be getting Coretec installed very soon. From your opinion/experience, if we start off with the Bona mop and ONLY water, then we shouldn’t have a problem?

@jenwinston73 that has been my experience. I haven't used anything but water ever. I really think they look great. There will be some glue at first -- I was tempted to use cleaner and I am glad that I didn't. I just worked a little harder and got it the best I could and moved on hoping it would get better the next time. It has turned out for me.

Reminder: the glue just kind of looks like it is shinier in places (not all over just small areas).

meganewing7 - the prints are to be expected with a dark floor - on top of that 3 dogs too... that is a tough combo!

For those of you who do not want to take a chance of putting down LVP, or tired of dealing with crappy LVP like I did, go with tile that looks like wood. Finally got rid of the LVP and put down tile. I am sooooo happy not to see that garbage in my house. I love my new tile.

Or just get a better quality, not all LVP are built the same, matter of fact, there are some new advanced products available that are not LVP >>> SPC is the new technology in waterproof floors, the best priced one I have seen is Supercore Flooring - it is a stone core and has a matte finish

This is both an interesting, and scary thread to read for someone that just installed Coretec Hayes Oak! That said, one of the reasons I didn't go with a dark floor is showing prints. This is a general problem with flooring.

I've only had Hayes Oak in my house for a week, but it's rained (and rained hard) nearly the whole week so my dog has gone outside, got muddy, come inside and I am not seeing paw prints or even muddy prints. The dirt I've seen from spills, I've easily cleaned with plain water. Hayes Oak (which is almost like an unfinished wood) probably camouflages dirt fairly well due to the color and the patterns on it.

Hayes Oak actually is on top of my very damaged, very narrow planked golden oak hardwoods in the first floor. Those hardwoods were difficult for me to clean and I'd see a film over top I could never seem to get off despite using all kinds of hardwood products, vinegar, dishwashing detergent.

I know that LVP is probably overbilled as being this indestructible type of flooring, but I also think people are expecting miracles too. If your dog has dirty paws on dark floors, you're going to see it. Just like any floor, you have to vacuum often to keep it from looking dirty. On my hardwood surfaces, on my ceramic tile, I've seen films if I use too much product. And I could never get that film off no matter what I used on the hardwoods.

Reading this, I'm going to stick with plain water for cleaning. People here who have had issues seem to be using products to clean; the ones who seem to have great success use only water.

@Gina S~ Yes, that is the Shaw Hardwood floor cleaner that I use. The liquid should be a mint green color.

@Deann Jackson~ I started cleaning my LVP with water and a micro fiber mop and it made it worse. That’s why I switched to the Shaw Hardwood Floor cleaner.

@lrietman68 Hmmm, well that stinks on just water. Does the Shaw work well and alleviate whatever problem you were having? Edit -- NVM, just read your post that it does work well! Thanks -- I have ordered it!

Has anyone cleaned their Coretec floors with their Coretec Enhance cleaner?

@Deann Jackson please repot back on your experience. I bought some based on the advice of @lrietman68 but never used it. I wanted to try using just water before using a solution. I'm so happy with how it looks. I'm not switching yet.

We installed eternity flooring rigid core SPC. We have all walked around it with contractors coming in and out. No prints, even with direct sun on it. Maybe it’s the color we chose. No regrets!

@xoxogg I know what you mean! I may try water first before moving on to Shaw's, but the reviews I'm reading, this is a miracle product for these surfaces!

@Haute Shoppe Studio the floors do look gorgeous! And that is reminding me that during my install, we had men coming in and out and in and out as well -- I had 2 floors of it installed and I don't see prints. Also hoping the color Coretec I chose -- Hayes Oak -- is one of the reasons why!

Oh, for sure, @Deann Jackson you will be happy with the Hayes Oak and being able to keep it looking nice. There was a really long thread here that I read whenever I wasn't able to sleep and I learned 3 things:

1. The people with lighter LVP were confused with the people who were reporting problems with prints, etc. It was an entirely different experience for them.

2. The people with variance reported they weren't having problems keeping their LVP looking clean.

3. The people who used water only, and stayed away from the solution from day 1, didn't have any problems.

Have you shared pictures of your floors yet?? I'd love to see them.

@xoxogg That's what I think too -- that the people with lighter floors don't have the same problems. I may be wrong, but I think the same problem would exist on dark hardwoods as well. I know it sounds strange, but I covered up my orangey golden oak, very damaged hardwoods b/c it really wasn't worth trying to refinish them. I had a hard time with my glossy golden oak trying to get them looking really clean. And there are pics! House is still in disarray and my house is about to get repainted! Aw, thank you @xoxogg! It's funny because I was really worried how such a wide plank was going to look, especially in narrow hallways. I also worried I went too light/cool with Hayes before the install. My first choice was Mannington Napa Dry Cork but it looked too dark gray; then I went to its sister Napa Tannin and it was a little too dark and warm for me. Once I laid out the planks from the carton I bought of both, I knew I couldn't do a floor with wide variation between planks too. So I see Hayes online and thought I'd give it a try. The planks on the sample board looked washed out and gray. So did the planks from the carton. I opened up the carton and said NOPE right away. But I'd walk by the plank laying out by my stairs and kept saying to myself, "That color sure is pretty thought..." Several folks online said it doesn't look washed out installed. It doesn't look too gray or too cool. I decided to go for it but I was nervous about it up until the install! They did the bedrooms first and I was in love right away! Wasn't sure how it would look against my white cabinets, but they look great! Anyway, that's a lot more than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure! :)
