New bugs on passion flower vines

Can anyone identify these bugs (black bug near top of photo)? They have just arrived this week and are going to town on the passion flower vines, even more so than the caterpillars. They walk fairly fast and there appear to be a few dozen just within a day or two. I'm in Southern California.

Hard to see the bug, but search 'assassin bug'.

Thanks, I actually don't think that's it. The assassin bug has a tiny head and an elongated body, with red outer markings. I'll try to get a better photo, but this one is shaped more round and flat.

Update: whatever they were, they're gone now. Yesterday, they were migrating from the pot to the upper part of the plant. I sprayed neem oil at night, and the bugs are gone now. I don't know if they just migrated beyond the plant or away from the neem oil but they're gone now.

Good for you. I had what was identified as assassin bugs on my blackberries, and they ended up disappearing within 2-3 days. I did spray the canes with water though.

Assassin bugs are good guys though...they eat other insects.
