Can you take another photo from a slight angle and with better lighting? What type of room is is? Is the fireplace as short as it looks or is the wall just really tall?

Here's another photo. It's a vaulted ceiling so the wall is pretty tall, the fireplace takes up about a third of the total wall

And it is in our living room!

I just did an older home with a fireplace in natural brick. The walls are a lighter gray and we painted the brick (in your case would be the wood )a charcoal gray and beautiful trim around it such as at the ceiling a white trim (crown molding) and then we're putting marble tile on the hearth which you would do on the floor. We are also adding a beautiful chunky natural looking hearth and corbels but I don't see that you would have a place to add corbels....I also love the idea of a large piece of art but that can be quite expensive

Instead of a piece of art or mirror we did decide to do a large canvas with hand painting of a favorite Bible verse of the homeowner in a gray on white canvas and it actually is very beautiful.... you can find a lot of these either locally or on Etsy or on Instagram accounts . some of them are framed in Barnwood and they're beautiful and less expensive than a piece of art
