Hey everyone,

We recently purchased out first home here in Michigan and are looking to do some low budget DIY landscaping. The previous owners had lava rocks that not only looked super ugly but were a pain to walk over. I'm trying to shovel out the rocks but haven't been able to get all of them out. ( lets say I got 80% of them). Now I have a few questions about what I can do next.

1) Do I spray a weed killer before attempting to plant anything?

2) How and where on earth do I dispose off all this lava rock?

2) Can I just ignore the rocks that remain and go ahead and edge the border; spread out a think layer of soil, and start planting some annuals/perennials?
