Love the upholstered banquette with the bistro chairs from Serena and Lily, but I'm not crazy about the style of the chair paired with the style of your more contemporary table. The woods are off, and I think the styles are off.

What about doing the upholstered banquette paired with a different style chair and incorporating the bistro style stools at the counter?

Thank you! And yes. I'm really struggling with finding an appropriate chair. I really do not want my whole house farmhouse style, and so many things out right now seem too rustic to me. A bit mixed in is fine, and hence the table that I feel is a rustic element, but that's enough.

What about this chair paired with the table or are you trying to stay away from a metal chair? If you went with this style chair, you might look for a banquette that is a bit more modern in style.

Where did you purchase the table? Wondering if they have some images of it paired with chairs. It is very unique.

I have considered those too. I wish I could have posted more than 4 pics with my various configurations. I like the banquette idea - but am having a hard time finding one that is either the right size (the table is only 60inches long), or they cost 2 grand, which is ridiculous. The one in the pics is from Ballard and is about 900 if I do that stripe fabric. They do have one that is not skirted, so it would look more modern. The table is from Ethan Allen (nabbed it on sale!). They don't pair it with chairs on their website, but in the store they had it with a cream colored upholstered chair with an oval back.

Love the space and the mix of textures! I think the metal chairs look fantastic, but probably wouldn't be as comfy to sit in for awhile. We have a very sturdy wooden table, and changed up the textures by having these chairs: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50309681/. Not sure if something similar would work for you?

Thanks both of you. I am looking at the banquettes from CB too - they are all just plain fabrics though. I have wood chairs now at a table and they are fine for a short sit, but not for long. I was considering doing CB's linen parsons chair for the ends and then something else along the sides. I think the metal Tolix style chairs would be a nice mix. So many choices... I think I've considered too many different ideas and now can't narrow myself back down! I have a super giant table in my actual formal dining room that extends to 144 inches, and have upholstered chairs there (from Erdos - love them) but this little spot has stumped me. My couches in the space are navy and then chairs in an ikat print, so I was hoping to mix in a stripe or something just because the whole room including the kitchen and hearth area is the size of a large garage and everything needs a bit of interest so it's not just a giant hole of a room that is too bland. It's a nice problem to have, don't get me wrong, but making sure it all works together has been harder than I expected. I'm better with singular rooms!! And we have a 5 year old, so things have to be a bit on the indestructible side.

I like the idea of mixing the metal chairs with the linen parsons chairs. I also think a striped fabric would look beautiful with the metal chairs if you decide to go with a banquette. The only chair I'm not crazy about is the bistro chair from Selena and Lily-I love the chair but am not crazy about it paired with your table.

Why don't you order some swatches from Ballard, so that you can see them in your space? Also, you may want to consider waiting on the chairs until the table comes in.
