Question about Growing Ginger....

Hello..

This is the first time I've grown Ginger before, and I'm loving it! All of this is very new, so I am wondering that if by trimming it back it encourages rhizome growth?? Seems like it would, but not for sure.. I have noticed that when I trim it, it will grow like an inch per day in our currently very humid weather.. Would love to hear any comments you guys might have on this general topic.. Thanks in advance for all info you might have...!

Do you know the name of the ginger you are growing? Most people want to see flowers on their ginger and trimming would negate any flowers.

Hi Steve.. I have absolutely no idea what type it is.. It was given to me..

Despite the flower issue, I suspect that with regard to the rhizome they would all behave in a similar way..?? Just curious what might encourage rhizome growth.....

I grow 30 or so different varieties of ginger and fertilize with water soluble 20-20-20 and leave all stalks standing until they terminally bloom. Each stalk helps the rhizome grow and produce new underground growth. I don't cut any stalk until it's done it's thing
