Long narrow leaves and drooping weak branches are a characteristic of swazicum hybrids. This adenium could be swazicum but an ID requires a close-up of the flowers and leaves.

Rooted weak branches of swazicum will never grow upright (no amount of pruning will change that) but they will develop some nice thick roots for sure. I once had a large swazicum with massive roots and beautiful flowers.

I will request a close up of the leaves and flower. The Caudex looks like a Obesum but maybe I am not use to older Swazicum. I just notice the firm branching lower down. Where Arabicum's are not so firm. I want to multi graft this. So the branches would be removed down low where they are firm. He tried to sell these on Ebay but they did not sell.

With the shrub like form will a Swazicum be good enough rootstock for Obesum flowers? the branch shape should follow the Obesum growth and shape. It says the caudex shows nice when young. What does it do when it is older.

Nice bulbous base shape on this plant. As Martin states it could be a Swazicum X, but the leaves are too shiny and not typically Swazicum type.

The comment "shows nice when young". Makes no sense. The caudex will be the same when young as when older w larger size and color.

This could be a nice multi graft root stock, if this is what you are wanting?

I am not sure of the price on this, but I just saw some nice large plants listed on Rinoa's (Orient Adeniums FB Page). They have photo's of the plants. Maybe more than this one you show.

Would be nice for you if you could get a nice big one cheap, because flower type/color is not going to be looked at.

The shipping is not much since they can take there time, Could not beat the price. All for the price of one. I can't keep thinking "I get to play" :-)

One reason I asked about these being shipped, is that if they are bare rooted to send them. You will need to wait until they start into growth after receiving them. For grafting purposes this year.

Marica, you have some very nice plants coming. They all have exceptional caudex's on them. So happy for you. You have been searching for sometime now.

Hi I did not want to start another post for basically the same questions above.

Roger bare rooted and pruned these 3 year old tree's around August 6th. I planted them yesterday. I will need to do some more cutting. How long should I wait. They are under a tree for now.

Just noticed this post. They are very handsome plants.

You may find that it is going to be too late to do much grafting this year w those plants. The newly potted plants will need to start into actively producing new grow before having success w grafts. It is important that the rootstock is pushing out new growth.

If you are in a climate with long growing period, you might be lucky to get lush new growth in order to do some grafts.
