This is a late reply, but yours looks very much like mine did in late summer, if not better. Not sure where in Ohio you are, but we had a very dry season and most clematis didn't like it. I am expecting mine to bounce back next year provided we get adequate moisture.

I don't have Vancouver Danielle, but from what I can gather it is a Group 2 clematis, which means you're supposed to prune it back after it's first flush of flowers. However, I have a couple of Group 2s and I treat them the same as my Group 3 types -- that is, I prune them almost all the way back to the ground in winter. Mine are young and I haven't had the benefit of observing them come out of many winters yet, but I want them to develop nice root systems, which is helped by cutting them back hard. We have enough hard winters here that many years I am expecting the weather to do the pruning for me. If you still see green in the stems after the winter, it's fine and probably beneficial to leave them, as you said you did this year.

Vancouver Danielle looks like a beautiful clem (very similar looking to my Elsa Spath) and I hope you enjoy how she performs in your garden.
