Judy, Mama Africa is dark orange red. It starts out as dark orange then changes to dark orange red. The first photo of Mama Africa is when the flower got old. Helen

Beautiful photos Helen! I need to get my MAMA AFRICA in the ground. She's still in the plastic-bag pot they sent her in! Mine hasn't gotten quite that purple-y looking tho. Starts out rusty-orange, turns a little more reddish, but bleaches on top of the petals. It's a very interesting rose to say the least. Love your PURE POSH!!

Helen hi! As usually everything is so exquisite and creative and just gorgeous. Congratulations excellent roses and excellent work with them. What size of pot do you usually use with your roses? I planted this year in 21" my all hybrids. They are still babies. But heat here is tremendous they just getting fry. And most quit blooming. 110 F is an average. West of Houston. Breaks my heart.( Love love love your beauties.

Beth, I remembered we ordered Mama Africa around the same time from Ludwigs' Rose. I just moved it to a more morning sun location and hope it won't have powdery mildew anymore. It makes me smile every time I see the blooms that you posted. Out of the small pots come the gorgeous blooms. It's amazing. If I keep mine in that small size pots, they will refuse to bloom for me. I have a few root bounded roses in 5-gallon pots that need to be moved to bigger pots but I haven't had the time to do them yet. Pure Posh is a very nice and healthy rose. It is in one of the root bounded 5-gallon pots and it is happy to grow its roots through the bottom holes of the pot to reach the ground for more water and nutrition.

Elvi, my area is less hot than yours so I use the 21" width x 17" height plastic terracotta pot. OSH has it for $17.99. It has internal drainage reservoir with self-watering disk to prevent damaging root rot. It has no holes at the bottom so I drilled in the holes for the drainage. It was my first time learning how to drill holes and I think I did a good job :)

If you don't mind the strong green and blue colors, you can get the same green/blue pots at Home Depot for $9.98.

Helen thanks for your guidance.)) I bought green pots from Home depot and found them pretty good including price lol. i have to say i dont use those self watering reservoirs i just tear them away. They tend to collect water and plant drowns. But the dreinage i came up was a laugh! I critically heat the screw driver and did lots of holes at the bottom of pot. So if you have plastic pots and need xtra holes thats the easiest solution. Ive to admit i found this idea reading somebody's review so thanks to that person i will not crack my pots anymore. I hope this help. And once again Helen thank you for your suggestions and sharing with us your wonderful roses. I unfortunately have nothing to show but i hope fall time will bring me some nice blooms to share. I have very nice pics of Glamis Castle from last year but never posted them. Maybe i should...

So beautiful, I love Pure Posh and your Ebb Tide is the prettiest I've seen!

I kind of grimaced at the first pic of Mama Africa. Not too fond of the older bloom - but the younger blooms are fabulous!!!!! They are so big and lush looking with that gorgeous color!!!! Please say it has a great fragrance!!! I would love to get this rose!!!

Pure Posh has a very pretty color too, so saturated!!! But Mama Africa blows my mind!!
