Cuttings with new leaf growth should mean you have roots.

You can root cuttings in water, but the roots are not as strong. Dormant cuttings in the winter are the best. IMHO, the wet paper towel method is the best and easiest to root fig cuttings.

Wrap one half of a dormant cutting with a damp paper towel. Place in ziploc bag or enclosed plastic container to keep humidity high. Wait till roots form then transplant to a pot for a while and allow it to grow more. If paper towel sticks to roots just remove as must as possible.

I prefer using the large plastic containers because you can put racks inside to give more room for all the cuttings. You can easily do hundreds if your plastic case/box is large enough.
