Too many forums, I just checked and don't see a way to do it at this site. I was going to send you an email with photos and stuff, so I'll just measure and do it the old fashioned way-in words.

Just walked out to the barn, needed to take the dogs out anyway. I lied to you, I have a 624 in the barn. Here's the dimensions on the drag stake anyway.

The stake is rounded on top then the portion that goes into the soil has a point on the leading edge. Length from the top to the point is 14 1/2", from the top to the "trailing edge" is 13 1/2". Thickness is 3/8", width is 1 1/2", adjustment holes are 3/8", CL dimension of holes is 1/2" from leading edge, obviously 1" from trailing edge.

Dunno if Javert is still on this forum, he knew a lot about the JD tillers.

Just went on youtube and found this video, that tiller is identical to mine, except the guy says it's a 5HP and I believe mine originally was a 7HP Tec. Looks like they kept the same frame, drag stake, etc. Anyway, you can see the stake on this one.

Cool, I saw the video ....and your description of the "drag stake" is very accurate. Thank you for all your help. I grew up on a farm with a very old Aeriens tiller and know about the shape but didn't have the exact dimensions to make it fit and work well.

I will have one put together in a few days, just need to visit the local steel sales and I'm in business. Once again, thank you.
