Cattaleya
Hey there. I bought some cattaleyas from Home Depot. They came in a little container with netting around it. I bought them about a year ago, and they have not grown much and one is shriveling up. It is however showing some new growth. Another one is not doing well and it's my fault. It had a large pseudobulb that would not open up. I did a bunch of research, and drank a bunch of wine. I found that some people cut the pseudo bulb to help the spike emerge. Too much wine, and I accidentally cut the wrong spot so that part of the plant has died... Why aren't these plants growing much at all? Do I need to change anything? They're watered maybe once every 11 days. There is never sitting water in their pots. They have indirect light. 2 of them are in a SE window (more east than south) another is under a grow light mimicking day and night. The one that has new growth was under the grow light and it was doing well, but when I went on vacation I put it in the window incase I lost power or incase the light blew out. Attached are some photos... You will be able to tell which one I killed. The one with new growth, but shriveled up & browning is the one in the window
