Wow, this is a tough situation. We have found that a copper cleaner called Wrights Copper Cream works best. It is a mess to work with though. Those finger prints will always be noticeable as the copper ages. That being said, it will take months, if not years, for the copper to age naturally. I suggest getting the finger prints off and accelerate the aging process by using a professional product to do that. Sculpt Nouveau has some products that might be helpful. We do not use them, but we have tried them a few times and they seem like they would be user friendly for a beginner.

Based on your pictures it looks like you have a "Brushed finish", if so some braso and a scotchbrite pad (fine) will take care of it. Rachiele is right, use a copper patina solution to age the copper faster, just know that it will always get finger print marks due to the alkaline levels on skin! You could have a fingerprint party and cover the fingerprints with fingerprints, so many that you can't tell!)
