On my visit to the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden this was the strong pink rose that caught my attention. As your photos show she's an handsome eye catcher. With a scent! One of my favorite Carruths overall. Excellent captures!

I'm with Irisgal! This rose really captured my attention at the Columbus Park of roses where it was holding its own in intense heat. Healthy as all get out and FRAGRANT! Don't be shy if you want to post more pics. It's so beautiful. Pretty petals, get going on yours cuz it looks like it would be a beauty in a bouquet. :)

Gorgeous! I just spent my whole day cleaning up the weeds and while doing it I told myself one of the advantages of roses in pots is no/minimal weeds :) Helen

Vaporvac - It does well in heat (where you are)!! It does well in cooler weather (here)!! It even does well in rain (here)! It's a nonstop blooming fool! The fragrance on mine has improved - it even wafts, but it still isn't all that fragrant. Hopefully that will improve next year.

Helen - no weeds, and you don't have to bend down to smell/see the roses. Although, I guess, in zone 9 you don't have to bend down to smell the roses. LOL

Matthew and Beth - maybe you need to change up the fertilizer amount/type you give?? Seriously mine has looked like that all summer.

For where I live, it's like a miracle!! No one here gets this amount of blooms!! I remember at a rose society meeting, people actually gasped at someone's pictures from California. So this rose is a wonderful rose to do what it does!! Yay Grande Dame!!!

We had another thunderstorm last night. All the flowers are still on, but they point downward now, and a few of the canes are bent sideways. I had my vegetable pots knocked right over. A cover on my worm bin which I keep a brick on was blown away. It had a brick on it!!! My yard is a mess. Feels like fall is coming. Seems like we only had about 2 weeks of nice weather. Oh well, maybe September will still be nice.

Did you enter a bloom in the rose show a while back? It's just amazing, that with your wretched constant rain, this rose has come through with such an amazing show. You need to post these photos on the Rosy Days thread (or did I miss that, too?). I'm so happy you have Grande Dame blooming away in your garden. Now on to HMF to check her out. Diane

No :) , I won for a themed arrangement. The judge had said he had never seen so many garden grown roses in a display. Actually, by the next day (when I took pictures and the public was looking) the roses were all droopy and exhausted. I had used the wrong type of florist foam. Sigh. I didn't use the type that absorbed the water. So I do have pictures...but...yech.

Carol, wow, congrats for winning the 1st prize in rose design. You are so good plant rose on the pot, Im not lol, mine isnt bloom that well, mine is have small bloom and I plant them on 22 inch pot .

Oh, that's too bad that yours doesn't bloom too well. Do you use Fish Fertilizer?

I am truly impressed by the growth of your potted roses in a difficult climate! I've never had that quantity of quality blooms on any of mine.
