IKEA Kitchen layout input please

I would very much appreciate any recommendations. We have a U-shaped kitchen; the peninsula with the dishwasher would have a quartz countertop overhang with seating. To address a couple things in advance that I imagine one would question:

1) We are using all of our own current appliances. Although a few years, they are stainless steel and functional. Fridge, oven, and sink all need to stay in the current general area, give a foot or two.

2) Regarding the small 24" countertop space to the left of the fridge: Why not just have all cabinets on that wall? Answer is, we need a designated prep area for our special needs daughter for med station, formula, syringes, etc.

3) In the corner of the peninsula, we simply put one 24" basic cabinet. Although the program wouldn't let me rotate it as such, we want to essentially face it backwards. Meaning, the door would open in the corner from the seating side of the peninsula and we would put rarely used bulky items.

4) The 18" pull-out drawer to the right of the sink would be for the garbage can. I understand that it would hit the dishwasher; just can't really think of a way around it.

I understand that when planning any kitchen, it's easy to overlook trim and misc pieces (plus this is my first shot). Hence I'm looking for any constructive criticism. Thank you in advance.
