Bean seeds are viable for years. They must be kept dry. You might put them in a ziplock bag and freeze them temporarily to make sure there are no bugs in them, but with purchased beans I doubt that is necessary. Here's an article on saving bean seeds Green Country Seed Savers.

All of mine are in a shoebox in the closet, and seemed to do fine this year. Some are 8-10 years old, germination wasn't the best but I still had some sprout.

I keep mine in a shoe box in the garage.

I keep all my garden seed in a zip lock freezer bag in the back of the refrigerator freezer. I believe it helps keep the germination rate better. Maybe not.

Storing them in airtight containers in the freezer maintains viability at a higher level for a longer period of time. However, even if stored at room temperature, bean seeds are viable for several years.
