Old mirrors are heavy and of good quality. Try finding another place to hang it, e.g. a narrow hallway to make it look more spacious, or in a low light area to reflect light, or over a fireplace, etc. The worout room is a good idea. I would not cut it. You can always hang it and place pictures or artwork over it and leave
the mirror part showing around the border to look like a mirrored frame. There are artistic ways to display it. You can take a wide-eyed sponge, dip it in gold or silver or black paint and tap designs or borders around the mirror. If you want to break it, tap the glass in areas to create spider veins, then spray paint and wipe to leave the excess in the cracks. Another thought, you can hang it over a bed and buy decals of your design or choice and place them on the mirror. There are more ideas I have for you, but basically, a mirror doesn't have to look like a mirror. Just my opinion.
