Here is one of the germination containers. They are still small, so I'll be repotting them probably next month. But I'd like to ask in advance whether to water them immediately after repotting, and to expose them to the sun immediately after.

Joshua, hello and welcome to the group. Where are you situated?....So, if you could add some location/zone info after your user name via your homepage that would help us to help you :-)

Whilst germinating and when small, seedlings do like more water than older ones, but they tend not to like constantly saturated soils. If you could allow them to dry out just a little more, I think they should be fine. When you are ready to repot them, first perhaps do a search using the box above for a mix for them using what ingredients are readily available in your area. We tend not to favour sand in our mixes as often it's way to fine, but I'm not familiar with your river sand, so I would be cautious in using it for later potting on.

Thank you for your comment Gill! I'm located in the Philippines, so I guess that would put me in zone 11?

The soil mix was sourced from a local succulents store. The soil in the pic looks a bit too wet because I'd just watered them before taking the photo.

My question is with regards to whether or not to immediately water the seedlings after repotting; I've read in a few articles online that we should wait a few days before watering repotted Adeniums, but the rule might be different for seedlings.

Also, should I expose the seedlings to the sun after potting them, or shade them for a few days?

Hi Joshua. The Philippines is USDA Zone 14, which doesn't really exist! It's just used for reference.

But this means you have the perfect climate for adeniums. My sister grows them there using roughly the same substrate you are using. If they germinated in the sun, you should keep them in the shade for about three days after repotting, just to be safe. If they germinated indoors or in the shade, keep them in bright shade longer--say about a week. Then slowly move them into morning sun only, for about a week and so on for longer periods.

I strongly recommend using small disposable pots like plastic cups or something. In that zone, they will outgrow them very very quickly. It's like buying shoes for kids---you don't want to spend too much since they outgrow them in months. Wait a year before you invest on more permanent pots.

And yes, you can water them immediately after repotting.

I'll be sure to water them after repotting and to keep them in the shade for at least three days.

I was also planning on "recycling" plastic bottles into pots for this purpose, so your timely advice tells me I'm on the right track.
