Secret from bud to open.

'Secret' (Tracy'94, HT) has the sculptured form of its parent 'Pristine' and nearly identical coloring. But it has great scent and far fewer thorns! Both vigorous tall growers. Then I looked up its other parent 'Friendship' and saw the darker pink edge color seeping into the light areas of the petals. Aha. That's what 'Secret' does here in the spring.
I just cut a bouquet of about 20 and at least that many left on the bush, and this is not a full flush. Throws off disease as fast as it throws off leaves. But never looks bare. Does make candlelabras.

Love this rose, although I'm starting to get to the point where one looks vaguely like the other. For instance, I have a hard time with Secret, Crescendo, and Gemini. I know some purist will say that I'm blind, but all these roses are starting to blend for me.

But, irisgal, similar or not it is still a gorgeous bloom and great to see the progression!

Irisgal, your Secret is performing the way I like. Your blooms are beautiful and the amount that you cut and left on the bush is amazing. I have tried to grow Secret several different times and no success.

Beautiful bloom. I can imagine what it smells like. I grew Secret in Fl on Fortuniana root stock. It was a huge, monster bush. I might have to give it a try up here.

I read somewhere this rose was not hardy below z7B. Kublakan, you can add 'Pristine' to the list. I was crazy for pink edged roses and had the 2 of them side by side for a few years. Needed the real estate so the more fragrant stayed.
