Fair time!

I'm not sure if this crowd really cares about fairs, but I entered some garden produce and flowers in the Grady County Fair again this year. My little Juliet tomatoes got a 3rd place ribbon but my arranged fresh flowers and dried flowers got blue! I also entered some shallots in the "miscellaneous vegetable" category and got a blue ribbon. Cut marigolds and zinnias got 2nds. I won't lie - I'm in it for the blue ribbons and the $$. I made $31 this year just entering junk from my yard!! :) I'm pretty sure I beat a sweet, little old lady in the canning division for some canned blackberries. My proudest moment! Hah! ;)

Anyway, this is my annual plug encouraging YOU to enter things in your local fair! It's easy and fun. For many years, I thought because I wasn't in 4H or an extension club that I couldn't enter. Not so! Open class really is open to anyone! (Though now I AM in an OHCE club and whew, is that WORK at fair time!)
