Haven't you had a lot of rain? Are they outside. I know a lot of people in your area grow on their balcony so how is your wind? Is it time to re-pot because of size? Sorry I don't remember what soil you are using now. Maybe you can just add something to the soil you have. You are talking about the clear plastic orchid pots aren't you?

Marica, i use cactus potting ready mix, but what i get here is not very coarse...and he told me coco husk or flakes instead of leca clay will enhance with the right fertilizers....its a bit of money to invest in those pots or get more plants lol, but they look totally awesome...will try to get a image next time....

I would have thought that the open structure of wooden orchid boxes would allow the mix to dry out even faster given your heat?

I agree with Gill. I've tried this, too and it is what happens. Plastic pots with a lot of drainage holes are your best bet. Then mulch the top with something like wood chips/crushed coconut shells in order to slow down drying up due to evaporation.

Hi Shimolee, I am growing them in coco-peat only.Presently not watering them as it is monsoon expect when it doesnt rain for 3-4 days. I had tried to grow them only in LECA but they didnt do very well. I fill the bottom half of the pot with leca and cocopeat in the top half which has been mixed with potash, superphosphate, ash, rock phosphate, basacote, etc and now they are lish with leaves and growing in girth too. Much better than when I was growing them in rocks only or leca only. I use the regular pots for them.

oh and organic liquid fert weekly given works much better than basacote....in our weather and heat.... Its efficacy is much lower than the euro countries is what i feel
