Need help with Slide-in Range design

I am replacing my current slide-in range that came with the house. I really want the Samsung NE58K9430SS but am concerned about the range space. While there is a 30" cut-out, there were two small notches cut out on the front of the granite to fit the control face of the current range. Each notch is about 1.25" deep and 3/4" wide. I think this was a poor decision to make these notches, but I'm no expert. I have attached my rough sketch of the range space and pictures of the notches.

I have two questions:

1) Because the Samsung control face is 29.75", will it look aesthetically unpleasing to have these notches on either side? Cooktop measured W23.625" x D31". Spec sheet: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/6d/6d2d501f-9d28-402c-9815-d7629c876dd1.pdf

2) are there any fillers I could put on the front of the granite to mask the notches?

Aesthetically unpleasing to you or your guests? I really doubt most people will notice the notches. They may or may not drive you crazy. There are fillers but with your granite they may be more obvious than the notches.

Did you save or use the extras from your slab somewhere else? If so I'd patch. As an aside, you will find a smooth top induction slide-in a completely different cooking experience. Nearly instant heat level control, more power than a gas cooktop and no baked on dirt. You clean just wipe it down with a paper towel and Windex. A ceramic top heats the glass up to 850* to heat your pans. And everything is baked onto the top.

I had the same issue: we had a ge profile drop in and we had the "notches" in the marble like you do. I bought the Bosch slide in induction range and I was hoping that the shape would hide them. While unfortunately they are not covered completely, I feel that people do not really notice them (I do, but I got over it :), If you zoom in the picture below, you can see them.)

I have the exact problem. My Bosch slide in keeps having the control panel fail and after replacing it 3x at $300 each Im not doing it again.

I went to look at replacements and they all have the freestanding design now, except for bosch and older ge and fridgedaire designs with the black plastic.

Has anyone seen any other slide ins that require notching?

I have leathered black pearl counters. Installer didnt leave any extra. Though if I get a full depth "free standing" slide in range I guess the back filler of granite that would have to ve removed could be cut to fill the notches. Assuming, I can even find someone to do that!
