Will tolerate quite a lot of shade but does require consistently moist soil wherever located.

Its more of a shade plant, its in the lily family, not a grass. If grown in sun you'll need to keep it watered to keep the soil moist. Here in Oklahoma I wouldn't try to grow it in sun. If you want a purple grass for sun try one of the Pennisetum's (purple fountain grass).

Wow! Shade and moist are what I've got. I have a range of part shade, but all are moist (ish).

I just thought dark pigmented leaves needed lots of light. It's worth a try. Thanks!
