HI All, I have four huge Butternut squashes that all pass the fingernail test as to when they are ripe. The problem is that they are way lighter in color than any picture of this squash that I have ever seen. Maybe this is because they are cross pollinated? I am unsure as to when to pick them now. They are really bumpy and light tan rather than the light orange they are supposed to be....Anyone have an opinion as to whether I should pick them yet?
