What is in between the rafters under the roof?

    1 x 6 tight joint tongue and groove, then 1/2 in. plywood. The exposed rafter tails are pressure treated pine, "scabbed" on to the main rafters (which stop at the face of the outside wall. The top of the exposed rafter is dropped 3/4 in. below the top of the main rafters.
