Sparkle & Shine

I'd like to share some insight on Sparkle & Shine which
is becoming one of my favorite roses. It really took off in it's third year. Granted Iv'e changed fertilizers which have helped "all" of my roses but this one really took off.

It's very healthy, has vigor and is almost in continual bloom and has a sweet fragrance, impressive! Julie Child is another yellow which is doing well it's only in it's second year so we'll see how she does next year. This isn't the best picture because of lighting but here she is.

Yep, I agree. Have been growing Sparkle and Shine for a few years now, and I think it may well be one of the "classics" that hangs around for fifty years as "the" good yellow rose to grow. Very impressive rose, on all fronts.

I'm thinking about getting that rose bush next year... My neighbor got a 3 gallon one this year from our local nursery...Its growing and blooming great and I notice blooms stay more yellow and last longer than our Julia Childs do...

It's a keeper in So Cal. Long lived flowers that keep their yellow. Great foliage to flower contrast, too.

What fertilizer do you use now? Your roses look great! I have Julia Child and love her, but have also heard great things about Sparkle and Shine.

I have Julia Child..Our neighbor has sparkle and shine... Here in our climate I notice Sparkle and shines blooms last longer and stay more yellow then our JC's do...Not sure about disease resistance here yet...

Dizzy, I began using fish emulsion 1 1/2 TBS mixed into a gallon of water, each rose gets 1 gallon in the spring. Then I use Bloomkote 1 cup per rose bush which feeds for 3-4 months. I also like BK a lot because the pellets dissolve. It's made a difference and has increased bloom power.
