Savantfou, Save your self a lot of money and electric bills. Yes they are better but with Sanseveria it is not needed. What I use is a typical 4 ft. shop light with twin T5 bulbs. On sale at times for $12 with switch. I use one on my 55 gal. fish tank and is more than enough light for them. I also use the light to read by. My easy chair is right next to it. The use of a 4 ft. door mirror will enhance the light. Cost about $4.

Thanks Stush, your setup is very interesting. I'll go in a nearby pet shop in Germany, they have everything for fish tanks, including good quality lights.

It always amazed me how Germans have one or to decades in advance regarding fish tanks, plants and gardening. Here in France everything is expensive !

Savant, We have a very large pet shop not far from my house that sells used tanks. Some leak but is perfect for what I use them for. Also I was lucky enough to find one thrown away along the curb on garbage day for free. I use what I have available. Maybe cheaper to make a plywood box with plexi-glass front? Install cheap door mirrors inside? Maybe mylon plastic sheets?

Stush, I didn't intended to put them in a fishtank at first. In my apartment the temperature won't go under 70°F in winter. Do you think this is enough even for the most fussy ones ?

I'm varnishing a set of shelves and next week I'll have a brand new setup for my plants (I'll post pictures). I think I'll attach lamps under on of them in order to add extra hours of day for the leaf cuttings. I hope they'll pup faster this way.

For the temperature, if the most fussy need more than 70°F, I'm thinking about a "home made terrarium", an old fishtank with neon lights over, it will provide a few more degrees. It will look like your tank I think.

With the tank, it cuts off air circulation and avoid drafts. Some times that could be bad but for me it works. Top of tank is open and is covered with a large towel.
