This late
blooming yellow canna you have looks and the description sounds very similar to
a canna cultivar I propagated and sold under the name of C. ‘Harvest Yellow’.
The lush green foliage was extremely vigorous and the rhizomes were very plump
and healthy. We named it “harvest” because it typically bloomed very late in
the season about harvest time. We were never able to determine if it originated
as a rogue seedling or a mixed cultivar we received with some purchased seed planting
stock. The plant grew about 5 feet tall.

Is there any
chance of posting a photo of the entire plant in bloom?

I'm thrilled to have that story. The "harvest" designation sure makes sense since this one is such a late bloomer. Here are a couple more pictures. These aren't the best, so I can try to get better ones tomorrow when the sun is at a different angle. Keep in mind that I am Zone 5 and I grow all my cannas in containers.

Thank you so much for the fantastic information, Kent! It all totally makes sense now. And I really appreciate knowing more about it. I got this one from a local person's private collection. He is the only person I've ever met in this zone that has some he actually keeps in the ground over the winter. He has a micro-climate up against one side of his house. He's kind of a canna god to me.

This one, like you said, is a vigorous grower in the pot. I've already up-potted it two times. This year, when I store it, I will up-pot it again. Maybe next year, I will divide it. For now, I'm just thrilled that it has survived three winters in my garage and that it does bloom.
