Oleander aphids on milkweed

So this year, I decided to grow milkweed to help save the Monarchs. Since it was my first year, I wasn't expecting to have any caterpillars, but I did have one, and I was thrilled! Then recently, there came a plague of oleander aphids. I have never seen such an infestation. Granted I wasn't paying *close* attention to the milkweed plants recently. They seemed, from a distance, to be doing fine, and I knew there weren't going to be any more caterpillars for the year. When I saw all the orange critters a couple of days ago, I was repulsed. I did some Googling and decided to try spraying isopropyl alcohol on them and then rinsing with the garden hose. It's hard to tell if the remaining aphids are dead. I may need to do some pruning.

I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with these pests, and what has worked to eliminate them.
