damaged bud??

This is my Heart Throb hardy hibiscus. Its 2. this is the first time it got a bud on it and it looks like something poked a hole in it. i hoped it wld still open. here it is today. looking pretty sick. all the leaves look healthy. i dont see any pests in or around it. what happened to it? looks like it tried to open but didnt.
