Top heavy potato plants

I'm growing potatoes for First time and I've been hiling them like I keep reading.. The potato plant is about 16 in tall and keeps falling over even after hilling them.. Should I put a stake in to hold it up or should I cut the plant down some to keep from toppling over??

I didn't hill mine up:( I planted them under landscape fabric and grew them for the white flowers with a rabbit ate them ALL off. I got a good return. I still have more to harvest. How did your hilling eventually work? I have ordered more potatoes for next year from wood prairie.com. I grew Kennebac this year. They don't have much taste baked. They are used for frying mainly.
