Tea time :)

last modified: 10 years ago

It's Tuesday, so let's have some tea, shall we?

I'll be putting up drapes this afternoon, but for now...just enjoying a nice cup of Earl Grey with Orange Spice herbal mixed in. Such a lovely combination!

Nice, but cooler here...so hopefully we'll get the garden finished and have time to do a little painting, before it gets too cold outside. So much left to do, but we have finished quite a bit, despite the warm weather. Summer is too hot and nice fall weather is too short! LOL

The garden is looking very nice and I'll post more pictures, after we move the fruit and roses. Painting is mainly the kitchen (finishing what we started last summer) but also would love to paint our bedroom and maybe the bath.

Have a great day and enjoy your tea! Or beverage of your choice...

ETA: Almost forgot....Robin and Jamie 1-8 is FREE on Friday, September
16th. It's all my fairytale story, so far...and if you want to read the prologue and first chapter, those are free today, here. https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B01LK865TA&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_Akc2xb83ZDFT8

41 degrees when I got up this morning!

I'm roasting the third and fourth baking sheets full of winter squash. Have about two more to go. I'll put them in the freezer for winter consumption! I think there's one more huge squash on the vine and that will be it for the season. There are blossoms, but "Winter is Coming!"

I have to dash off right now to take Sam and his smelly "ill" ears off to the vet. I had to borrow neighbor's car (have I mentioned what good neighbors I have?)

Wes had to put his truck in the shop for some long-neglected repairs, then the unexpected happened and he had to take my little CRV to Maryland to check on his Mom. I had to stay her to tend the home fires.

She fell, again, and put six fractures in four vertebra. Of course the emergency room did not see this on Friday evening before Labor Day. It was the following Tuesday before her doctor did tests and saw the damage. Since then surgery, bundled off to rehab, will have therapy, finding a nursing home, possible blood clot, and a suspicious lump in her breast was found yesterday. She lost one breast to cancer in the early 1990s; is a six-year survivor of lymphoma, but how much more can she endure?

Lots going on, but I'll check in again this evening.

Someone keep the pot hot for me!

Late as usual to afternoon tea. Long day in town sorting financial matters and driving 90 miles and 6 stops for this and that. I am pooped out. It is cool here too and I am in long pants with slippers and long sleeved over shirt and blankie over my lap. Feet feeling frozen. Hot tea is delicious. Doing Lemon ginger today for now. If I make a second pot It will be dragon fruit. I think I am really too pooped out to start in on some thing else today and seriously considering unplugging the phone and taking a nap.

ImHappy so sorry to hear about the truck.

Caroline I hope MIL is not in too much pain and will heal quickly. Sounds awful.

LL I am waiting for your photos of garden and curtains.

Time to refill my cup then off to snooze land for me.

Eld sorry I missed you. So nice you can have your tea at work out side. Double refreshing.

Sorry I am late again. Yesterday was eye doctor day. I was depressed afterward but have decided that if this is God's plan for my eyes, than I'll just have to learn to live with it.

I'm not drinking tea today. I discovered a new-to-me drink from Snapple: Kiwi Strawberry. Ummm um good.

LL, even though your post wasn't to me, I will download your books Friday too. I downloaded one that was a book 2, but just couldn't figure it out without book 1.

eld, I can't wait until I can enjoy my morning tea and breakfast outside too. Sounds nice.

caroline, roasted squash sounds good. What do you do with it later?

I'mhappy, that is so frustrating. I gave up on dh's family when a Smith married a Smith. John Smith at that.

Shades, that running around wears me out too. Snuggle in.

Thank you eld. And thank you LL for the link. I just downloaded them and plan on reading this afternoon while I kill time waiting for the house inspection to be done.

Thank you Missouri! I hope you enjoy the book : )

Everyone else, I'm sorry about some of the things that have been happening! I think it helps that we all have a place to visit. At least I hope so! Just heading out to garden. I'll stop back by on a break and read through all these more carefully.

When I finish in the garden, I'll post pictures, but it might not be until next week. I have a LOT of plants to move....

I've quit working on the free dresser from CL. It's not a quality piece and the more I look at it, the less I care about working on it. It will probably go upstairs and be decor. I swapped the round oak table for the little drop leaf. It's amazing how much more floor I have now. The stripper turned the table and chair into a money pit.

The dresser is NOT this pretty in person. It says 1929 on the back of it. The pulls must be tin back plate and iron drops. They did not clean up. And I wonder if I have the drawers in the right order. Maybe that bottom one should be under the top drawer? I will check that out tomorrow. The thing is, the piece between the drawers is warped and I had to plane that 2nd drawer to fit. This is the order they were in when I got it.

I made noodle krugel tonight. I got the recipe from someone on gw a couple of years ago.
    Noodle Kugel

    Spray the casserole dish
    12 oz. flat egg noodles
    3 eggs

    1/4 C. sugar ( I use a sprinkle I don't like it so sweet)

    2/3 C. Farmer's cheese

    1/2 t. cinnamon ( I use more)

    1/4 t. nutmeg ( I use more)

    1/2 C. sour cream

    1/2 - 3/4 C. golden raisins
    1/4 C. butter

    Beat
together eggs, sugar, cheese, cinnamon, nutmeg, sour cream and raisins.
Cook noodles per directions. Toss noodles with half the butter. Pour
egg mixture over noodles and mix. Put mixture in ceramic casserole which
has been sprayed with Pam or greased with shortening. I mix the whole
thing in the dish I'm going to bake it in. Less dishes to wash. Sprinkle
with additional cinnamon. Dot with remaining butter. Bake uncovered at
350 F for 25-30 minutes or until light golden brown. Watch the noodles. I
don't like them crisp/crunchy/hard. Best served straight from the oven
but leftovers will reheat well in the microwave.
