Great results, congratulations Koi...Did you use pollen from the same plant or different one? Are these grafted or natural( read ungrafted) because they say that it does not work on multipetal grafted varieties. Do share the plants and their flowers (once they flower)..so that all here may compare the mother plant and the babies!!

Hi, Shimolee, Sinha, Marica and Jedoba thanks for your respond. I used the above method two to three days after it blooms. No foreign pollens intervention and they should be all normal pink. Tried multiple petal flowers success rate very low, probably due to low pollen production and difficult penetration with the brush.

I tried David's way and the fruit fell off after two weeks. The method succeeded, my hands-off policy did not lol

Oh yes. I forgot about that. The multi petals are said to contain less pollen.

I tried it today on a lot of flowers:) waiting on results...

but we have rains, so flowers do burn and drop off, and i think my paintbrush bristles were super soft, i will try next with a bit stiff brush

another query since we are talking pollination... Lots of fruits and veggies are self pollinated by using an electric tooth brush on the stem joint of the flower... Any trials done by anyone on those lines? Was planning to go buy a cheap one and try that...like i said, my unsteady hands and eyesight make the traditional method of manual pollination tough for me to execute...so looking for alternates...:)

Hi Maria Elena, thank you, I am from Malaysia weather here is humid and hot and lots of rain at this time of the year.

I will try the paintbrush method. I have used toothpicks as well as Q-Tips with variable results.

Hi Tiarella, the trick of doing it is one need to hold the base of the flower near the stalk while the other hand hold the tip of the painting brush by "turning and probing action" and it's done. Do use the smallest painting brush with hard bristles so that is is easier to reach the pollents. Happy trying and good luck.
