Yah, I agree. I got hit up in my last post. It wasn't the first time either. It wouldn't be so bad if they hung around and contributed and made some forum friends before pan handling.

@aliciacammel - If you're having so much trouble getting your seeds to germinate time and time again, you can just as easily buy already sprouted plants/seedlings online and have them shipped right to your house. What makes you think that forum members' seeds are going to germinate any better for you than seeds from a vendor? Like Mark said in another post: either change your approach, or stop posting here, trying to deplete everyone else's personal seed stock to help out a troll who contributes nothing to this forum.

How about posting some pics/questions about your setup/techniques and asking some questions about why you're having such a hard time? That might prove all of us doubters wrong. Until then, scram.

Yah, no problem asking for a seed every now and again, but you would be better off getting into the forum and learning and making some online acquaintances before hitting up everyone for seeds that mentions or posts a photo of a super hot.

It's just rude with the taking but no giving. Not a fan.

Over the last several years, I have sent seeds to quite a few people that requested them and I asked for nothing in return. Others I traded with. However, those I sent seeds to, were people who didn't just attack every super hot thread with seed requests. They came in and contributed a while before asking for seeds.

The last couple years, I haven't sent out as many seeds. Mostly because I haven't been saving many seeds even for myself. But, I figured since I was lucky enough to have a few send me seeds when I was a newbie, I would return the favor. Several that helped me out are still on this forum even after it transitioned over to Houzz from Garden Web.

Yeah exactly. There needs to be some type of contribution to the community right?

hobby: sorta. No set guidelines or anything like that. One doesn't even need to be a member for very long. Donors just don't really care for hit and runs. One of the best ways somebody can contribute is just by asking questions about gardening. That way, when those questions are answered, other readers may learn something.

Actually there is a charity in New York I think they accept extra seed packs, even opened ones, and then shares them with underprivileged families. I actually paid international postage to send my extras down there because I didn't want them to waste. They sent me back some unusual types which was unexpected but great!

Alicia sent me a her side of our trade in a timely fashion. I received a generous amount of seeds and good communications.
