What is everyone doing?

It's Sunday; I'm trying to enjoy "a day of rest," but no one is one the computer to entertain me and stimulate my brain!

Cue the "Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me" song!

I should be working on the unending, unfiled paper work in the partially cleared out (!) sewing room. The window company won't replace the broken window sash until I find the original order form. I know I have it, but where?

I went out to pull weeds from the front gardens; it's a cool overcast day, but the mosquitos were unbearable. I had almost filled a five-gallon bucket with weeds before I had to cry "Uncle" and come inside.

I'm re-measuring the miniscule breakfast nook for an area rug. Since DH is still gone, the neighbor is letting me take her car to town Wednesday to get a carpet/rug to put there. That will be fun. I'm making this project quick and dirty. I'm going to choose from what's on the floor, be it an area rug, or a carpet remnant that will be bound. It can be any combinations of beiges, tans, greens, plums, reds...

I'm beginning to "see" the sewing room now and I'm excited to get it in 100% useable condition.

A woman that helps me out for four hours twice a month was able to stop by (for the first time since March). We worked together to get the white metal dog gate re-installed in the sewing room doorway. Now I can leave the door open while keeping the hairy dogs out. I've made much more progress in there since I don't feel like I'm locked in a closet with the solid door shut. They can "watch" me through the gate if they are so inclined. When the door is shut they would howl and scratch on it.

It's sad to have metal bars on the room, but it's very nice to have a dog-free zone to escape too. (I suppose "a dog-free zone in which to escape" would be the proper grammar, but it reads as so clumsy.)

She also helped me get the oversized, beat-up end table down the stairs to the basement. It's been replaced by the lovely TV cabinet, but the end table was too sturdy and useful to simply toss out.

Good work Caroline. I get the dog free zone. I also try to keep kitties out of my sewing room. The hair is unbelievable. since it is also the guest room I really do not want hair all over in there too. Not that I get that much company.

I put the first coat of paint on the last bit left to do in the guest room. No furniture needed to be moved. Just a couple of small picnic baskets that set on top of the tall shelf and a mirror hanging on the wall and plug cover. Second coat can go on as soon as I finish this post. Then clean up the paint brush and call it good. I do not think I will try to save the roller. It is a small 3 inch one so size and cut from a larger roller. Not worth the bother. The brush is a good one.

Then I did chores around here and decided to research putting in my walk way to the shop which is down a slope. I have slipped and fallen several times down this slope and I needed steps. But I did not want really formal kind of steps where I would need a railing. It is only 8 foot run on the slope. So I figures the run and drop of 16 inches and dug in the foot of the pavers to make them level and put them 8 inches apart. So for round numbers the stepping stones drop 2 inches from one to another in the 8 foot run and it gets me to the bottom flat area in 4 steps 16 by 16 inches. It is perfect for me. I made several trips up and down and no shifting under foot or feeling I am going to fall or slip. I do have to shovel snow up this path way in winter so that had to also be a consideration. I think this will work. If not then next year I can change it. It is crooked and perfectly matches the other walkway because it is also crooked too. I do not really care. I am sure the third leg of these walk ways will also be crooked. It appears to be how I roll.

To the shop building. I have to be able to mow through there and there is also a slight drainage running between end of shop and walk. I am on flat ground when I step off this bottom step. it is only the height of the paver.

Walk way towards road. I need to add 4 more stepping stones to get to the end of this one. But of course I decided to do the other path instead. I am a squirrel.

Not to paint then hopefully finish a small crochet rug I have been working on.

Finally no rain today! I mowed the rough spots in the pasture. Then I decided to move most of the gardening stuff from one barn to the newly resided machine shed. It has shelves and places to put stuff now. Cobwebs abound in the previous space!

I pitched #15 of pears into the horse pasture. They like them. I pitched about the same amount to the chickens. They didn't care. I think they're full of pears.

I went straight to the shower when I came in.

I was feeling particularly domestic today. I made huge batches of red beans and rice, chicken and rice casserole, and chicken pot pie filling. It's all in vacuum seal bags now freezing and getting ready to seal. Also did a good deep cleaning of the bedroom and laundry. Yesterday I detailed my Jeep. Tomorrow I go to work so I can get some rest!

I'm dying... I have to go thru an insurance booklet and figure out what they're saying in it... for addt'l ins to go with medicare. my former boss will help me. I have the booklet and she'll pull it up online from her house. She already did it for herself and another co-worker. i'll probably go with what they did. Still, I have to know that I won't have to change docs and what it'll cover on my prescrips etc. it'll cost me about 134.00 a month so it's gotta cover enough to make up for that! I try not to read things like this anymore - or calc figures/amounts. My head doesn't like doing those things anymore.

and I have to go cook up some spaghetti for my dinner and do dishes. dog wants out too - I guess that gets priority.

My goodness you all have been busy. Caroline, I think the gate is a great idea. I am going to need to do something for the cat, I just don't know what.

Shades, you never cease to amaze me. Your path looks great too. I especially love the design of the pavers and brick.

Imhappy, I didn't know horses liked pears. I shouldn't be surprised though, I've seen them eat watermelon and pumpkin. I mowed pasture today too. It was pretty horrible and I'm afraid I damaged my new riding mower in the process. But we have people coming to look at the culvert so it had to be done. Dh had his super weedeater and did a lot in the ditch, including being covered with poison ivy!

cooper, you are making me hungry. I haven't cooked in so long that I've probably forgotten how.

steph, I am not there yet, but I'm already dreading that process and having to find supplemental insurance.

i have had a supplemental insurance for 2 years and very happy with it. Of course I usually only go to the doctor once a year. It was good to have for me cataract surgeries. I will miss Joe on this one too as he was the one to go through all the options. Just another thing I have to deal with. This year my cost was 24 dollars a month with out drug insurance. YES I know all about the penalties bla bla bla. But my cost would have tripled with drug ins and the insurance does not cover the one drug I take,Armour thyroid, and the other drug I take I can buy for 1/3 the cost on my own. My agent did call the other day and said there are changes coming. UGH. Hope it is not going up. Bet it does though.

Well I cleared the closet even down to the dust bunnies. How they gather so fast is beyond me. I wiped down what I needed to and now have the first oat of paint on all walls. Waiting for that to dry. I really hope to get my closet put back together before I go to bed or I will be sleeping in the guest room. All clothes are piled on my bed. It is amazing how the color I am painting changes from room to room. It is good I am loving it. It kind of matches the master bath and it a good color with the light mint green of the bedroom. I am not going to put the cubbies back up on the closet shelves. I have other pretty things to put up there and of course then I will have to dust them. OH well. I cleaned up the guest room closet shelves and have room for the extra top of the closet stuff to go in there.

I put one set of four cubbies hooked together on end in my new studio space and I will buy some more of the dish pans to fit them. I will add extra shelves centered so I will have a stack of drawers for more storage and one shelf as a working shelf beside my grinder. Eventually I will get it all sorted out up and working again.

Ha, ha, bunnies! Yes they sure do multiply! Well, I feel like a bit of a slacker. I worked myself into a tizzy on Saturday, so yesterday I had to recover a bit. I did get a lot done in the house yesterday. Lots of dishes and lots and lots of laundry. Things needed to be put away. I watched the Bengals lose to Pittsburgh - nothing new there.

Today I had lunch with a friend and we spent a few hours catching up. We ate at Panera and I am disappointed in the menu now. Only 3 salad choices, just a few sandwich choices. I don't know why they have dropped so many things. :( Then I came home and walked the dogs again. It has been a hot day again and they don't like going too far and if I stop to talk to someone I have to make sure they have some shade while they wait.

After that I had some errands to run and then went to get my hair cut. All that to say that tomorrow is looking pretty good to just do a few things around the house. There is enough to keep me busy and yet not feel stressed about anything. And right now it is in the low 70's and all the windows are open and will stay that way all night. I love it!

I'm sorry to hear that murraysmom. I used to love Panera. Turkey on tomato basil bread. Yum! There's not one near me so I don't get to go often.

I wish it was cool here. I just heard on the news that we hit 100 today. Enough already!

Another eye doctor appt tomorrow, then I get to be a thorn in the side of the surveyor so he will go survey Wednesday. We've been nice and that hasn't gotten us anywhere. I've been calling him for a week and finally talked to him last Friday. I asked him when he was going to survey our land. Oh, next week, says he. That's what he has been saying every time we or our realtor calls for TWO MONTHS! So I asked what day. Probably Wednesday, he said. Ok, I said, I will call you Tuesday to confirm and then meet you out there Wednesday. He's going to survey if I have to sit outside his office door.

"in the low 70's and all the windows are open and will stay that way all night. I love it!"

man, I am looking forward to that here. will be at least a few weeks and I can at least open the windows at night! I did that in my bedroom a few wks back when we had a very cool evening here. I turned off the a/c and opened the window for the night. I love that! I'm not an a/c person - I'd rather never have it on - except for the extreme heat in AZ I wouldn't.

we've had a number of cool nights with a breeze. when I take dog girl out in the wee hrs (1-5) I sit in a lawn chair and enjoy it while she prowls around surveying her land... and listening to the night animals. I could fall asleep out there but I'd probably fall off the chair.

I was going to go to the bank today and the grocery but didn't wake up til about 4.30 pm. geeze, that messes me up and dog just lets me sleep away... but once she sees me moving, she is running for the door!

will try tomorrow for bank and grocery.

I managed to put the closet away. A few things to put on shelves in guest room. A little more tweaking. for now it looks pretty good and I am so glad I painted it. Lots of work for one day. I will probably never do it again. If I had not had the extra paint all ready to go on roller and brush I would not have bothered. Now I do not need to store so much paint. I will save the bit left in a mayo jar labeled. Since I used the same paint in four places it will be good to have some touch up on hand.

Mobound I hope your surveyor shows up on Wednesday. What a pain to have to wait that long.

At 8PM we had 75 degrees The sun had just set. I actually turned the heat on in the front part of the house a few days ago It was about 62 in the house. I hve not had the air on in a couple of weeks.

I am heading to bed. Long hard day. Have to get up early tomorrow for some one coming. UGH.
