Nice trees!! I agree the tree needed a friend ;-). Did you add lime to the 5-1-1? Did you mix in the oscomote plus? If not, you can stir some into the top later. You are in FL...why not plant them in the ground.?

I was wondering that too. Why not plant them into the ground? I think the mix looks great and good for you! I mix the fertilizer into the mix right off the bat. I even fertilize right away and have no issues..Many decide to wait a week or two before giving them direct sun and fertilizer...Good job

I am planning on building a large enclosed patio in my backyard which will mean putting down cement. I don't want to plant them and then have to move them later on. My luck and I'll do something that kills them :(

Laura - I didn't include lime! And I haven't put the Oscomote yet.. wasn't sure when would be the best time to add it.

Definitely add the lime - 1 tbsp or so. Without it, the 5-1-1 is too acidic. Don't fret, I made the same mistake with my first batch of 5-1-1, and then stirred it in. As for the oscomote, I always stir it into the mix. Next time I need to add it, I will just mix it into the top later. Once you patio is built, you can plant them in the ground and save yourself some trouble.
