Mary lives near Tulsa and has had a really bad outbreak of crape myrtle scale on her crape myrtles this year. We discussed it earlier in the summer, and I noticed quite a few people asking questions about it on the OK gardening facebook pages around the same time.

I haven't seen it on my crape myrtles here yet, and am crossing my fingers and hoping the scale insects don't find us.

Thanks, Dawn. I followed the link yesterday, and will return today. The scale is nasty. It is fortunate that I prune my crapes to about waist high, and remove all but three canes each year. I can try to scrub what is left or treat it in some way. I hate the ants, and in the past when I had large aphids, I had way too many - almost an infestation of yellow lady bugs.
