Laura, that's good to hear! I'm a bit less worried now :) I noticed this morning that there were a bunch of new leaves growing on one of the branches, so I'm optimistic :)

Mike, it's chipped pine bark from NZ (Pinus radiata bark) it's usually used for orchids and hydroponics. I couldn't get the smaller size, so it is 9mm-12mm pieces but thats still better than the huge chunks of wood that I was previously using. I soaked the bark overnight with a little seaweed fertiliser, then added a scoop of lime and a scoop of citrus fertiliser to the mix along with the needed peat and almost all the perlite (I ran out and the stores near me don't stock perlite). Waited a day and then bare rooted my citrus (good thing too, one of them had a horrid soggy clump in the middle of the roots none were rotten though) before potting them up :)
