My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

    Hello - The manufacture was Cedar Valley. It was the 7-1/8” Exposure with ‘Even Buttline, Open Keyway.’ The stain color Redwood SW3501. They have different styles and colors available. We have been very happy with the product. We built that home 8 years ago and my coworker just visited the home the other day and she said the siding still looks brand new.

    They are based in CA but they have various distributors' on the east coast.

      Hello - These are real wood cedar shakes and we worked up a custom stain color onsite. I do not have record of what the final mixture was.

      WE are looking to reside our house with cedar shake shingles. What kind of maintenance is involved?

      Hello - Well, we do not use real cedar shakes very often so I'm probably not the best person to ask. In the northeast, I think you would need to re-stain/seal about every 1-3 years so it can be a fair amount of maintenance. On this particular house we found a company that has a prefinished cedar shingle. These cost a little more, but because its a factory-finish they should only need re-stained/sealed every 10-15 years.

      Hi, Am narrowing down the roof to a cedar shake or this Camelot GAF asphalt shingle roof that is so attractive. Our former house had real slate, so anything else is a big adjustment! Could you share the brand of shingles that were pre-stained for you? Thanks!

      Gorgeous. Is this information only for cedar siding shingles or are these the same that are used for a roof? If not, what roofing cedar shake do you use? I APPRECIATE YOUR GENEROSITY IN ANSWERING! At a critical decision point!

      Hi - The real cedar is only used as the siding. The roof shingles are the GAF Camelot shingles. The color was Antique Slate. Here are the website links.

      For cedar roof shingles we typically use red cedar shingles. For a real cedar roof typically you do not use a stain color or sealer so over time they will turn gray.
