That's great Steve! I do like that seedling setup also. Now, grown from seed, how long till the tree produces fruit?

Another question. I have germinated a few key lime seeds. Should I water with sugar water also? A few have sprouted...should I give them FP? I have them in peat moss now.

Seed grown Meiwa and Nagami kumquat trees do not live long enough to reach flowering maturity. My first batch of seeds I got 1 tree out of over 300 seeds. I have planted close to 25-30 seeds since but every tree has died so far. Otherwise I would guess a well grown seed would reach age in 2-3 years (2.5 - 3 feet tall).

1 table spoon per gallon of water. I just thought I would try the sugar water this time. Go ahead with the FP at 1/2 strength and flush every third watering to keep from feed build up.

Laura, I have given my calamondin seedlings full strength Miracid in the past. This year I gave my new calamondin and meyer seedlings 1 Tsp/gal FP and they are all doing splendidly with deep, dark green leaves and growing fast.

Vladimir, they have popped up out of the ground, but do not have leaves yet. At what point do you move them to a different mix? They are still too young now. I wish I had planted them in better pots...I used paper cups which are disintegrating...

Just slip those cups into new paper cups and they will do fine. Your biggest threat is rot around the trunk at the root base soil line. They will grow nicely in a south window with the plant behind a sheet of typing paper to defuse the sunlight. the trees will use it's seed sack for food while the first leaves form.
