Rosie - one of my plant friends grows this one - and I think it is a small leaf one. She had it for show - in a bowl - and I said - this is not a very show worthy plant - and she said - I love it.

I do love it, I just am still trying to find out where she will be happy. If it is small leaf that is good. Will take less "real estate"! And I don't show my plants, so that is not a concern. It may not be as pretty as some, but she is a keeper "til death do we part"! Rosie

Thanks Irina! My sort of plan will be to see if I can take a cutting eventually in between leaves to promote branching. AND that will give me something else to start! And you know I thrive on starting cuttings and leaves! lol Rosie

Looks like my friend has the same Episcia - it is still ... flimsy - but with many cuttings rooted together... looks presentable. She just posted it a F-book.

Thanks for that Irina! I am watching for it to grow just a little more and then there will be enough to take a cutting. That cut will go in a mini terrarium and when large or rooted enough,,,,,planted in the pot with its "mom". I don't look for anything phenomenal from it.....but she is worth taking care of! HA!!! No, you are supposed to try them all! And Episcias are much more forgiving...as long as you do not chill them.

I still do not like Episcia 'Jim's Red Trail'... I think that the late Canadian Episcia hybridizer Jim Bodnar has some breathtaking ones. My choice - Jim's Pink Heaven.

Oooh, that is lovely! No chilling them huh? That could be tricky for me here. I have a small collection of cold insensitive plants, namely a few of my Hoya. Exactly how cold insensitive are they?

The temperature below 63F - they will go into decline and croak. So a leaky window in winter is not a good place. Move them away from the window in winter.

Hmmmm. Might just sit this one out then. All my windows tend to be a bit leaky here, and my fussier Hoyas are enough right now to get through the winter. That's ok, leaves room for more AV's and Streptocarpus.

I have the same variety that was sent to me along with some AV starter plants. It is right at home in my east-facing bay window and has been neglected quite a bit but looks great. I did get a massive show of blooms a few months ago and looks like there's some new buds too. Now I just need to get the nerve to cut off a few of those little shoots and make a few more plants.

Beware - Episcia is a tropical ground cover - the more you cut - the more they come.

Irina I would LOVE for this little guy to become a vigorous ground cover. Maybe if it had ideal conditions but not at this house!!!! Rosie

It is a flimsy one - it is not going to be vigorous...Even in a well grown pot from a pic above they are weedy... You want vigorous - get Kee Wee - this one in good condition grows leaves bigger than a palm. And quite hardy. Suomi - is another tough one. Kempenfest - it is an old variety - this is one fast growing weed.

Irina, In a few months I will welcome anything tropical here! :)
