it work best in a set with more than 4 chairs. when 2 at the heads of the table are one style, and side chairs are the other style.

what about two of the same type but different colored , say black and white of the same type?

mix n match is very casual and sort cottagey. not feeling it with what I see in your pics. you have a nice kitchen/dining, dont get too funky. I wouldnt go with more than two styles and not diff colored chairs. however if you really want something different, how about table one color, and same style chairs all in one other color. keep all the wood in that area similar, and go with either whites or creams. usually dont like when it looks unplanned.

I think you will find the best flow if the table and chairs are the same color as the cabinets (if its between white or cream, choose whatever the cabinets are) I would also keep the chairs at the table all the same style if the counter ones are different.

I have a small but formal dining table and this question is related to the mix matching counter chairs only for now.. will first and second match? they're both creamish white and brown but still have different backs.
