I know ferns like moisture, but can they handle any level of standing water, or the moistness that comes with having only clay soil?

I bought some ferns: ostrich,hay scented and have some in pots and some in the ground. I am worried that some of the ground ones look bad because the drainage isn't great. The rain here has been crazy and I see puddles that aren't going down quickly, which is kind of normal with our clay soil.

Will this be an issue going forward and should I get them out of the ground or maybe think of creating a garden bed on top of the clay soil?
