Share Your Plaid

I love plaid in fall & winter decor. If you use it, I'd love to see pics. I'm hoping to add a few accents to my LR.

Looking for a good source for a substantial plaid throw. Many are flimsy decor pieces more for show than for actual use.

Thanks

I love plaid, yes, I have several throws in plaid..which I don't pack away for summer either, lol. This So Cal is so chilly..:)

I'm not sure where are the pictures though, I'm afraid I won't be able to find them easily. Two throws are identical and very vividly colored..they're Italian, and I bought them for a song in Macy's, many years ago. I think they do contain acrylic.

One throw is from Happy Habitat. http://www.happyhabitat.net/throws/

it's cotton I think but it's one of my favorite throws ever. It's big like a blanket..it feels like the most comfy, cozy sweater all over you.

It's warm too. I can't recommend this site high enough.

And of course there are sometimes great deals on very good, quality lamb throws(for example) on flash sales sites like Gilt.com or Ruelala.com

I bought one for a friend several years ago-it was her colors..:) Was born to be hers.

I bought it on a whim and sent it to her. Luckily she seems to love it. It's a big, rather amazing throw.

I also saw that Anthropologie is carrying several nice plaid throws right now. I liked the pink and blue one, I think they import it from Scotland. But can't remember for sure. It will be in description if you decide to check out their website.

I Googled some plaid throws and you might see some ideas at this LINK.

I saw that one from PB is one sale for $31.00, and scroll down on the linked page and you can select the fabric content, if wool is an issue.

This one at the cotton link is $50 on sale and 100% cotton. Looks yummy!

I have this one and love it. I have the small throw size, but I think they come in a larger size, and other colors, too. https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Blanket-Antique-Buchanan-Tartan/dp/B0085JEDSI/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1475431063&sr=8-11&keywords=orange+wool+plaid+throw

There are so many beautiful plaids out there!

I ended up ordering the one Bluebell posted. The attached pic shows swatches of my rug, window seat fabric & some cushions in my LR. The Antique Buchanan Tartan is shown below. I think it will add a nice pop to my brown leather chair & solid fabric sofa.

Thanks, again for all the suggestions and links.

Bluebell, thank you for posting a photo of your throw! Looks so nice. Can't wait to get mine.

l love the shot of your beautiful cat. The first Christmas DH & I were married he gifted me with a kitten that had nearly the same markings, only in reverse colors : )

You've made your choice already, but check out Andrew Elliot Ltd. in Selkirk, Scotland. Their website doesn't have many good photos, but their Facebook site is awesome for pictures. They have woven tartans for royalty, for movies, bands. I have some of their throws and also fabric which I've had made into clothing. They are a family owned business.

Jmc, those tartans are gorgeous! Thanks for posting the source.

    I'm thinking holiday gifts...

I like Faribault throws. They are substantial, and sometimes you can find them used on ebay.

I've also found vintage plaid blankets on etsy. Be sure to read the descriptions carefully--some will have moth holes.

Wanted to follow up on my purchase. Ordered from The Tartan Blanket Co. in Scotland from Bluebell66's link. It arrived within a few days and I am very pleased with the colors and the quality.

Being from the PNW, when I hear plaid I immediately think of Pendleton.
