How many central vac units?

I have a friend who is building a custom home and after visiting our house and seeing the hide a hose system at work they are convinced its a must. Their house will be around 10k feet and believe they need two units. My house is 5k and we do just fine with one unit. If any of you have built monster homes how many units have you gone with? They definitely plan on purchasing the new hide a hose battery power head cx1000 after seeing the Turbocat's so-so performance on frieze.

Central vac units are commonly rated up to 12,000 +sf, so I wonder how they got upsold.

(Maybe the same people who convinced the previous owners of our current home to "upgrade" to two furnaces, central ACs--even though in the hottest summer recorded in the last 50 years, we never needed more than the upstairs unit.)

I've built up to 5,500 sf, not counting basement space, with just one central vac unit.

Most likely because of two maids been able to vac at the same time as thorough cleaning 10k sq ft house may take a while. One reason, even IF i win a lottery - I will never buy 10k house.

When I was subsequently servicing the 4,000-5,000 sf plus finished basement homes I built, I noticed the full-time housekeepers always kept busy vacuuming. Like their employers would freak out if they actually saw a servant resting for awhile!
