Cover Crops

I'm planting cover crops for the second year. They have improved my soil so much that i bought another shovel from Garden Tools to celebrate. I use a Spearhead shovel now. It is excellent. The tillage radish from Johnny's seeds have really improved my soil. I just dug a patch and i'm very pleased with the tilth of my soil. I also planted carrots and then covered them with (2) plastic bags I got from Starbucks. I've been covering up my roses where they meet the soil. I mulch with clover so there will be no nitrogen shock. Gardening in good soil is tons of fun. Grow Cover Crops: radish, winter rye, peas, crimson clover, dutch white clover, mustard, oats, and others. I even bought peas from Trader Joe's and they've sprouted! Gardening is wonderful!
