Hirado Buntahn Replacement Arrived.. Question

It arrived yesterday, from Harris.. It had a yellow plastic ribbon (with orange stripes) tied very tightly around the lower base of the trees trunk. Most of the ribbon was down into the pot of soil.. It took over 15 minutes to carefully cut it off with my small suture scissors . As you can see from the picture, the ribbon had started to cut into and girdle all around the trunk. Is this going to be a problem for the tree down the road, or will it heal properly? The tree arrived in good shape and did have a much better root system than the previous tree, and it did not have a lot of new fresh growth. It is doing well after being potted up, and it is currently in quarantine. I messaged Ruth, from Harris, early yesterday. I have not received a reply as of now. Maybe I am being overly conserned about this, but, it is a young tree and I have never seen this before.. Thanks..

PS: My first Hirado Buntahn kept dying back all down the stem/ trunk.. sadly, it met it's demise. .. the roots were not very developed on that one. I don't think the roots could support all the new top fresh growth it had when it arrived .

    Not a problem. It's common with nursery trees because of how quickly they go from pencil thin to half inch or so thick. All of mine were fine.

      I don't know the answer Jinny, but I am sure someone here can help you. It does look nice. I hope this one does better than the last! May I ask why you were so interested in this variety in particular? Just curious ...I was doing research last night about the ortanique tangor. Don't you have one of those also?

      Laura, thanks.. I did a number of searches on HB and it sounded like a winner. The fruit is sweet, not very acidic, and has a number of segments that are good for grilling and for salads. I want something different that I cannot find at the market or grocery store. Yes, I also have the OT that I ordered from Harris Citrus. It currently has a lot of blossoms on it..

      I hope the trunk will be ok...I suspect it will be fine. Remember early in the season Alexander had a gash in his trunk? It did not end up closing up, but he did not miss a beat.

      Yes, I remember Alexander. He is doing well thanks to your tlc.. I am just hoping the area that was affected on the HB will not cause a weak trunk on such a young tree down the road.. I don't understand why that plastic tape/ribbon was tied so tight on the trunk and left on while it was growing in the first place.. hmmm

      Thank you, Pip, good to know..I have ordered a lot of citrus trees from several nurseries and have never had a single one arrive with a ribbon tied around the trunk..Specifically with one left on strangling a tree, I am not sure how really common it actually is.
