Absolutely, totally, jaw-dropping WOW! Just looking at the pictures can teach us all a lot about how to do it right! I'm glad your climate is so kind to the plants; it would be quite a chore to have to bring them all in if you realized you had a cold winter easing your way unexpectedly.

I'm trying to think which is my favorite picture... but they are all equally terrific. I've bought several tectorums this year; I hope mine look as good as yours eventually. I like your large Mexican species because I like Mexico. Folks can see that all your plants appear to get at least some sun, but I suspect your altitude is low enough that the sun is not harsh and the "coastal influence" includes a pleasant breeze. Maybed you get some fog now and then, too, which the plants would enyoy (I listen to some radio stations out of Los Angeles, and they report morning fog now and then.) Everything looks so happy! Even the ones in the carport look like they'd love to sprout hands and feet and go on a joy ride, showing off how healthy they are. I bet when plants flower, the hummingbirds come in droves to enjoy the pollen far from where they expect to find such flowers.

and although I’m not a Tillandsia grower I can’t help admire such a great
collection consisting of so many quality plants, beautifully grown.

A fellow member of our Illawarra Bromeliad Society here in Australia
once visited you a few years back when she was in the U.S. for a conference and
she still talks about your collection and now that I see the wonderful
pictures, I can understand why.

A great collection, and set out in such a neat orderly
fashion, it would be enough to make any grower proud to have such a collection.

Thanks so much for sharing with us and I’m sure you’ll be an
inspiration to any future Tillandsia growers as long as they aren’t intimidated
by the high standard you have set; certainly a bench mark to aim for.

Greg, I assume you are in southern California like me, although you did not mention the state. I have a similar climate, but I am 2-1/2 miles from the ocean and it might be a tiny bit milder where I am. I have quite a few tillandsia that need to be reattached to their mountings, as they have grown too large, and so I think I can get some ideas from your photos. I do get morning fog fairly frequently - several days last week, for instance, but I do mist my tillandsia about every other day - every day when the temperatures are above 80, which is fairly rare.

How do you water all of yours? I've been using the mist setting on my hose nozzle, although occasionally I just use the spray setting. I'm in Westchester, by the way.

Lars, I'm in Oceanside. Many of my cork-mounted plants had to be replaced with wire and 'S' hooks because they too were getting too big for their britches. I normally water them with the hose early in the morning ( 4:00 am) or right before sunset, couple, 2-3 times a week. I don't water the tectorum types and other dry loving species but for maybe 2 times a month. I've got way too many plants to water with a mist setting so they get the shower setting.
