I've had cuttings arrive leafless. Some rooted (sp. IV WMZ, cv. Michelle), but others never did. High humidity and light is needed. No leaves makes photosynthesis for energy very difficult.

Denise, Its a bare stick of Kerrii Splash that kathy estes sent me. It broke off while she was taking my cutting. She sent it to me but said she did not know it would root or not.

I also got the fungii splash which is my new fave!

Kerrii is a tough one, so there's a good chance it will root fine. If it doesn't, I can probably send you a piece next spring. Mine is getting close to a "shareable" size!

I've never had any luck rooting leafless stems. Good luck tlbean.

Marco, I sometimes loop my cuttings especially if I'm not sure what end it was growing from. I usually get multiply growth points too.

I was trimming to send some cuttings and cut off a bare stem. Instead of trashing it I stuck it in a glass of water to see what would happen and it now has sent up a little branch w/leaves so it won't hurt to try.

You're not going to believe this, but remember that really nasty looking Hoya sp. Pahang I received a few weeks ago? I took the "healthiest" cutting I could find- mostly brown, but had the slightest hint of green...now look:
