I guess it is just the two of us, I will do my best to assist you. I suspect from your photos that you are not located in the USA. If I suggest a product or procedure that is not available to you please let me know. If I use a term you are not familiar with...google it. Let's begin...

Do you use the rain water runoff? I ask because I see a large container under the downspout in the backyard photo. If you use that water we need to figure out how to better collect and store it. Can you afford to have new, proper gutters installed by someone who understands how to slope them?

I'm not a pro, but if anyone can play I'd like to say that if you can open up that back verandah it could make a great entertainment space. Very roughly, as below -- even better if you could do without that central pillar, but you probably can't.

I like emmarene's color suggestion, but I would use a darker trim color. I would also encase the porch pillars in wood a la craftsman style.

When it comes time to address the gutters, I suggest buried concrete catch basins with concrete lids. (If the property "floods" occasionally, keep the basin tops several inches above that level.) Properly sloped guttering and downspouts will allow you to keep more of the water while also keeping it clean. A simple vacuum hand pump will assist in extracting the water.

Your windows will be a great focal point after they have been sanded down to the bare metal and painted with a rust-inhibiting paint.

I must say your home looks solidly built and will be very attractive. There are so many issues that Americans have no knowledge of (using rainwater is one). Be patient with us.

What paint brands are available locally?

Looking at your neighbor's house I like the way the window grids are painted. They look like grayish brown or black. It makes them less prominent. I think you should do the same.

I had the same idea as Rina as far as opening up the back porch. However, it occurred to me that the wall may be necessary and now that you mention wind I can see it might be better to leave the wall. Can you have potted plants?

Alas, I suspect no more suggestions are forthcoming. Have the exterior walls skim-coated with a cement mixture to obtain a smooth surface before painting. (No ridges, no holes.) Any plasterer should be competent to do this. Proper surface preparation is a must before skim coat. Skim coat needs to be prepared for paint...see your paint dealer for proper product. Paint as shown by emmarene's photoshop of your home. The round metal support posts (front & rear) would look very nice if they were "boxed in" using wood, then stained a dark color. Get your concrete water cache basins buried (with lids) so you don't lose water through evaporation. Get your proper gutters installed leading to the caches (cisterns). You say your area is very windy...investigate "wind cloth" of the type used around tennis courts, it is available in a beige color. Fabric of this kind could be mounted along the upper edge of your back patio and rolled down as needed. Again, proper fasteners are needed. As finances allow have native drought tolerant plants installed in the dirt area next to your high front courtyard wall, then install a tree bark or crushed mulch on top. It will help conserve what rain does fall and lessen the dust in the air. Lastly, find someone to "brush" the exterior wall of your home every 4 to 6 months (using a stiff, wide floor broom) as this will remove dirt without using water and keep your paint looking fresher.

You could use a wide low planter between the front windows. Plant a trailing plant at the base and a woody perennial in the center. Forgive my crude drawing.
